Smarter Travel Choices : Norfolk

How is a Travel Plan produced?

A Travel Plan is a living document, in that it should be continually monitored and updated to accommodate circumstantial change and development.

The basic process signifies the importance of a Travel Plan being viewed as a continuous evolution, consisting of the following stages:

The process begins through monitoring. The Travel Plan owner must first assess the need for a Travel Plan and subsequently identify areas for improvement through obtaining feedback on existing travel patterns and reasons for travel choice.

The Travel Plan can then be developed and the resulting initiatives, identified through the monitoring and feedback exercises, can be implemented.

Once the plan has been implemented, the Travel Plan owner must endeavour to continue monitoring the effects of the Travel Plan upon the target audience, and ensuring feedback provided is utilised to further develop the plan over time. New initiatives born out of the monitoring and feedback exercises can then be implemented thereafter.

The continuation of this process will result in the constant evolution of the Travel Plan. This will enable the aims and targets within to adapt to change and remain an effective tool in reducing single car occupancy travel, and also encourage use of alternative travel modes.
